HOLLY RIDGE - Douglas Earl Allen, 84, died Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2008 at Universal Health Care in Raleigh. Funeral services were conducted Monday, Dec. 1, at Andrews Mortuary Hampstead Chapel by the Rev. Terri Steed. Interment followed in Sea Lawn Memorial Park.

He was born in Franklin County, the son of the late Caleb Allen II and Arrah Brewer Allen. He worked at Bolton Corp. in Raleigh, where he retired in 1989.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Beverly Denton.

Surviving: his wife, Joan E. Allen of Holly Ridge; daughters, Gloria Allen of Raleigh, Barbara Petty (John) of Apex, Brenda Allen of Middlesex, and Linda Allen of Holly Ridge; stepson, Jimmy Pierce of Louisburg; brothers, Caleb Allen Jr. and Bobby Allen, both of Louisburg; sister, Oveida Price of Louisburg; two half brothers, Terry Wayne Allen and Carl Allen; a half sister, Sheila Bailey, all of Louisburg; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
