FRANKLINTON - Grover L. Edwards, 76, died Sunday, Jan. 18, 2009 at Rex Hospital. Funeral services were Wednesday, Jan. 21, at New Sharon United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Carl Belcher and the Rev. Alta Whitt officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

He was born in Madison County, the son of the late Joe Cephas Edwards and the late Carrie Kent Edwards. Prior to retirement, he was employed by Plastiglide Manufacturing. After retirement he worked for J.C. Edwards Construction Co.

Surviving, his wife, Linda Edwards; a daughter, Mary Ruth Schenk of Hickory; son, Grover L. Edwards Jr. of Holden Beach; stepdaughter, Pamela Huggins of Chico, Calif.; a brother, J.C. Edwards of Raleigh; and five grandchildren.
