ZEBULON - Barbara Jones died Friday, Feb. 13, 2009. Funeral services were Monday, Feb. 16, at Zebulon United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Todd Krueger presiding. Burial followed at Montlawn Memorial Park in Raleigh.

She was born in Charlotte to Frank and Alice Gates. She was a stay-at-home mom during many of her children’s formative years and later pursued a career at the N.C. General Assembly, from which she retired.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Fenton, and a daughter, Alicia.

Surviving: husband, Earl Jones of Zebulon; daughter, Frances Jones of Hillsborough; son, Jeff Jones; brother, James Gates of Cary; and one grandson.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions in Barbara’s name be made to the Alicia B. Jones Memorial Fund, 5436 Blue Sage Drive, Raleigh, NC 27606.
