NORMA B. LASSITER


HENDERSON - Norma Jean Beckham Lassiter, 71, died Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2009 in a local nursing home. Graveside services were conducted Friday, Feb. 27, in the New Bethel Baptist Church cemetery at Epsom by the Rev. Clyde Waiden.

Born in Vance County, she was the daughter of the late Joseph McCalvin Beckham Sr. and Frances Clara Dickerson Beckham, and was the widow of Joseph Ernest Lassiter. She was formerly employed at the former Woolard’s Drug Store in Henderson and the Corner Drug Store in Franklinton. She was also a member of Ebenezer Methodist Church, Franklinton.

Surviving: one daughter, Jill L. Perry of Epsom; sisters, Jo Anne B. Kearney (Alvin D.) of Kittrell, Mattie B. Kemp (Roy) of Louisburg, Iris B. Mettrey (Michael) of Raleigh, and Sonja S. Beckham (Solomon Weiner) of Apex; brother, Joseph McCalvin Beckham Jr. (Connie) of Maumelle, Ark.; and one granddaughter.
