The Democratic Party Precinct meeting for Cypress Creek Precinct will be held at the Seven Paths Community Center on March 16 at 7 p.m.

The time is right to erect Early College High School building on VGCC campus
There’s an old saying that advises: You’ve got to get while the gettin’s good!
While that saying obviously wasn’t directed at one opportunity the county is now facing, we think it might be appropriate.
The Franklin County commissioners — probably next month — will be faced with a request to build a new $7 million classroom building on the Franklin Campus of Vance-Granville Community College.

I remember when I was a reporter in Eastern North Carolina, I was speaking to a sheriff about a story when he mentioned that someone had recently stolen his four wheeler.
He considered putting something in the paper about it, but I think someone talked to him and, perhaps, suggested it might not look good if the county’s top cop was also a victim of crime.

Novozymes giving back
Novozymes giving back
Novozymes of Franklinton recently donated 40 laptop and eight desktop computers to be refurbished through the Teaming for Technology partnership with the United Way of the Greater Triangle and the United Way of Franklin County. Joe Burgess, Teaming for Technology manager, said the computers will be refreshed with new software and then will be distributed through UWFC to schools and other Franklin County organizations that may need them.

The Seby Jones Performing Arts Center will get some religion at the end of the month.
Louisburg College will host the musical performance, the “Church Basement Ladies” on Sunday, March 28.
The comedy features four distinct characters and their relationships as they organize the food and solve the problems of a rural Minnesota church about to undergo changes in 1964.

Man’s stove stolen from new residence
Louisburg police arrested two Bunn men alleged to have broken into a car Friday afternoon.
According to police reports, officers arrested David McMoore, 21, and Jeremy Charles Burwell, 20, both of 35 Scarboro’s Way.
The two men were charged with breaking into a 1986 Ford Mustang which was parked in the Walmart parking lot.

Plenty of them, in fact.

LOUISBURG -- Louisburg High School’s Warriors began their boys golf schedule last week under second-year head coach Chris Lee.
The Warriors hosted area foes Southern Nash and South Granville at the Bull Creek Golf and Country Club in Louisburg.
South Granville won the 18-hole competition with 359 strokes.

ROCKY MOUNT -- Bunn High School alum Ashley Driver has helped the North Carolina Wesleyan College Bishops get off to an undefeated start to the 2010 fast-pitch softball season.
Driver has teamed on the mound with  junior hurler Kacie Brandes, who tossed her first collegiate no-hitter on Sunday afternoon to help Wesleyan to a doubleheader sweep of Old Westbury at Edge Field.
