LOUISBURG -- Unofficial tallies show Franklin County getting one new school board member, an old judge and, perhaps, new faces on the county's board of commissioners.
Assistant Superintendent Tommy Piper bested incumbent Synthia Richardson, 1,651 votes to 1,186.
District 4 School Board member Debra Brodie and District 6 School Board member Rosemary Champion beat out challenges by District 4 challengers LeRoy Hartsfield and Connie Stancil and District 6 challenger Robin Faulkner.
