First Sunday Hike

Sunday, June 3, 2007 3:00 pm EDT

Description: On Sunday, June 3rd, members and friends of the Trading Path Association/TPA, and all other curious individuals, will have an opportunity to explore some of the historic transit routes of Louisburg, NC. This First Sunday Hike will be a walk about a mile-and-half or two miles on sidewalks, and if the stream doesn't rise, the non-risk averse will attempt to ford the Tar River on the great granite sheet that was Louisburg's reason for being. The group will meet at 2 PM, at Louisburg's beautiful river front park, two blocks upstream from Louisburg's Main Street bridge over the Tar River.

Louisburg is one hour due east from Hillsborough, and about forty-five minutes north of Raleigh. Directions and a map are on the TPA website: www.tradingpath.org. Questions also may be directed to the TPA office at 919-644-0600. Tom Magnuson, Executive Director, will serve as guide, and as usual, he advises, “Dress appropriate to the weather and sturdy shoes.”

Founded in 1999, the Trading Path Association [TPA] is a nonprofit organization headquartered in Historic Hillsborough, NC. It enjoys broad-based support at the national, state and local levels of government, among related conservation NGOs, and among academics. The purpose of TPA is to preserve, promote and study the historic Trading Path of the Southeastern Piedmont.
