Mary Lizzie Jeffries Pender

FRANKLINTON, NC--Mary Lizzie Jeffries Pender, age 99, of Franklinton, died June 22, 2022 at the family home in Franklinton, NC.

Mary was born November 30, 1922 to the late Katie Sneed Jeffries Perry and the late Williard Jeffries of Granville County, NC.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Lee Pender; sons, Robert "Rabbit" Sterling and Charles Thomas Pender; two grandchildren; a son-in-law, and a sister, Lillie McIntosh.

Survivors: seven children, Mary Bea Tharrington (Ulyses, Sr.) of Creedmoor, NC, Brenda Parker of Butner, NC, Willie Mae Pender (Sylvester), Harriett Pavon-Rosado (David), Winifred Pender, Issac Pender (Annie) and Wilbur Pender, Sr., (Edith) all of Franklinton, NC; eleven grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; Esther Mae Douglas of the home; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

The funeral service will be 3 p.m., Sunday, June 26, at Popes Chapel UCC, 70 Popes Chapel Road Franklinton, NC, Rev. Leroy Dukes, pastor. Interment is at Popes Chapel Cemetery.
