Mary Catherine Rogers

SMITHFIELD, NC--Mary Catherine Rogers, 85, passed away Thursday, July 7, 2022. She was born June 5, 1937 in Scotland County, NC to the late Roosevelt Sessoms and Mae Dunn. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Douglas Rogers, daughters, Teresa Carter and Vickie Futch, twin brothers, Abraham Sessoms and David Sessoms and a sister, Lela Haywood.

During Mary's free time she enjoyed crocheting, playing cards, crossword puzzles, watching birds, shopping at Hamricks and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a kind and loving lady that never met a stranger. Everyone that knew her loved her dearly. She was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Youngsville.
A funeral service was held Sunday, July 10, 2022 at 3 p.m at Bethlehem Baptist Church. The family received friends at the church Sunday from 2 - 3 p.m. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

She is survived by three daughters, Shirley Carter and husband Robert Lavon, Sr. of Williamston, Barbara Oxendine of Smithfield and Brenda Brooks of Smithfield, a son, Danny Butler of Smithfield, six sisters, Sarah Rhoden of Laurinburg, Ruby Locklear of Laurel Hill, Kathleen Scott and husband DC of Laurinburg, Hazel Lathan and husband Bill of Aberdeen, Doris Jones of Laurinburg and Jean Byrd and husband Jim of Laurinburg, two brothers, Paul Sessoms and wife Peggy of Laurinburg and John Sessoms and wife Sue of Wagram, twelve grandchildren, several great grandchildren, brother and sister in laws, nieces and nephews.

Bright Funeral Home is serving the Rogers family.
