Gertrude "Nannie" Parker

WILTON, NC--Gertrude "Nannie" Parker, age 83, died Friday, September 20, 2024, at her home. She was born on June 9, 1941, in Granville County, NC to the late Berry and Floy Parker.

Gertrude was preceded in death by her son, Berry Parker, two brothers, Sterling and Alton Parker, a sister, Olvia Jones, and two grandchildren, Norman Glover, and Jazmine Parker.

Survivors: her daughter, Eva Joyce Parker of Butner, NC; two sons, Dennis Parker of Durham, NC, and Donovan Tharrington (Delya) of Raleigh, NC; two sisters, Earlene Hunt of Newport News, VA, and Mary Jenkins of Wilton, NC; two brothers, Gaddis Parker of Wilton, NC and Dowell Parker (Alisa) of Creedmoor, NC; bonus sisters, Sally Mae Green of Oxford, NC and Carolyn Gooch of Creedmoor, NC; eleven grandchildren; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Eulogistic service will be 2 p.m., Thursday, September 26, at Union Chapel AME Zion Church, with interment in church cemetery, with Rev. Allen Moore, Pastor.
