LANIER COTTINGHAM HASTY
SHALLOTTE - Lanier Cottingham Hasty, “L. C.,” 81, of Colonist Square, Ocean Isle Beach, died Saturday, March 21, 2009. He was born in Hasty, NC, a son of the late Dan and Nettie Lanier Hasty. He received a B.S. Degree in Agriculture from NC State University, and served with the Agricultural Extension Service in Franklin County, NC. He served as Sunday School Superintendant of Louisburg United Methodist Church and other leadership positions. He served on the Committee of 100 (Economic Development Board), the Franklin County School Board, and the Franklin Regional Medical Center Board as well as various other leadership roles in Franklin County. He was an Agency Manager for Farm Bureau Insurance for over 30 years, and a US Army Veteran. He was a real estate investor and an avid golfer.

Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Jean Thrower Hasty; three daughters, Dr. Lanier H. Ayscue and her husband, Charles F., of Asheville; The Rev. Cathy Hasty and her husband, The Rev. Dr. Mark D. Larson, of Charlotte; and Ms. Susan Hasty of Raleigh; and four grandchildren, Franklin M. Ayscue, II, Brandon L. Ayscue, Marie Larson Hasty and Jeanine Larson Hasty.

Memorial services were conducted at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, March 24, at Camp United Methodist Church by The Rev. Richard Vaughn.

The family received friends at a reception at Brick Landing Plantation Clubhouse immediately following the service.
