MILDRED OWEN BRADLEY
RALEIGH - Mildred Owen Bradley died Thursday, August 13, 2009 at home.

She was born February 27, 1922 in Roseboro, a daughter of the late Calhoun and Maggie Gavin Owen, and wife of the late Lonnie W. Bradley.

She worked at WRAL and its parent company, Capitol Broadcasting Co. for over 35 years, and will be remembered for her role as “Aunt Millie” on the Uncle Paul children’s show starring Paul Montgomery.

She was an active member of Hayes Barton Baptist Church, and also a former member of Tabernacle Baptist Church, Worthy Matron in the Order of the Eastern Star, and held numerous offices in the White Shrine.

Surviving: children, Rev. Sylvia Bradley Sutter (Bob) of Spring Hope, Dr. Betty Bradley Aldridge (John) of Raleigh, Sue Bradley Phillips (Lee) of Carpenter Community, Lou Bradley Batton (Darnell) of Louisburg, William Michael Bradley of Raleigh and Timothy Wright Bradley (Julie) of Raleigh; sister, Katie Owen Morgan (Robert) of Lillington; brother, Dr. Robert C. Owen (Lacye) of Roseboro; ten grandchildren;  twelve great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be today (Saturday, August 15) at 11 a.m. at Hayes Barton Baptist Church, with interment to follow at Montlawn Memorial Park.

Flowers are appreciated; however memorials may be made to Heartland Hospice, 3117 Poplarwood Ct., Raleigh NC 27604.
