ROBERT “BOBBY” A. NEWTON
JANUARY 5, 1936 – MAY 11, 2010
HENDERSON - Robert “Bobby” Allen Newton, 74, of Henderson died Tuesday, May 11, 2010, at his home. He served in the National Guard and was a Mason with John H. Mills Lodge since July 25, 1957 and a Shriner.  He was president of Franklin Gun Club for 43 years.

 Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at Liberty Christian Church with Masonic Rites and the Rev. Frank Sossoman officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Members of Franklin Gun Club will serve as honorary pallbearers.

He is survived by his wife, Theresa Harper Newton; sons, Anthony Ray Newton and wife, Jennifer, Edward Allen Newton and wife, Carole; stepson, Sidney Earl Smith, Jr.; brother, Donnie Edward Newton, all of Henderson; sister, Betty Rae Newton of Kingwood, TX; grandson, Robert Anthony Newton; step-grandchildren, Taylor and Adriane Sullivan; and man’s best friend, “Ben.”

The family will receive friends Wednesday night from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Lancaster Funeral and Cremation Services, 804 N. Bickett Boulevard, Louisburg. 

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Masonic Home for Children at Oxford, 600 College Street, Oxford, North Carolina 27565.  Online condolences may be made to www.lancasterfcs.com.
