CARL V. TART
ZEBULON - Carl Victor Tart Sr., 88 died Sunday, Sept. 12, 2010. Funeral service will be at 3 p.m. today (Wednesday, Sept. 15) at Zebulon Baptist Church, with the Rev. L. Jack Glasgow Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Gethsemane Memorial Gardens with Military Honors.

He was born in Sampson County to the late Robert Winslow and Pearl Warren Tart. He taught at Stantonsburg High School before joining the U. S. Navy in 1942. In 1959, he moved to Zebulon and taught at Wakelon High School until he joined the State Department of Public Instruction, working in that department until his retirement.

Surviving: wife, Lois, daughter, Vickie Tart Burlington (Hugh) of Cary; son, Carl Victor Tart Jr. (Connie)  of Bahama; sisters, Ernestine Lee of Clinton, Ina West (Sherwood) of Newton Grove; a brother, Robert Tart (Dot) of Columbia, S.C.; three grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Jack Ray Tart and David Allen Tart.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Zebulon Baptist Church Building Fund, 400 N. Arendell Avenue, Zebulon, NC 27597 or the C.V. Tart Endowment with NC FFA Foundation at NCSU, Box 7654, Raleigh, NC 27695.
