FRANKLINTON —Emil L. “Dunk” Preddy, 98, died Wednesday night, Sept. 29, 2010, at Brantwood Nursing Center in Oxford. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. today (Saturday, Oct. 2) at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church cemetery, with the Rev. Carl Hunter presiding. Friends may visit with the family following the service in the church fellowship hall.
He was born in Granville County to the late Joseph and Carrie Blackley Preddy. He was a long-time member of Mt. Olivet Baptist Church in Franklinton and spent most of his life farming.
Surviving: sons, William E. Preddy of Franklinton and Joseph A. “Buddy” Preddy (Daphine), also of Franklinton; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucy Jane Hicks Preddy, and a son, George Douglas Preddy.
