LOUISBURG – Mavis Wood Franklin, 81, of Louisburg, died Wednesday morning, Nov. 3, 2010 at her home. Funeral service was at 3 p.m. Friday, Nov. 5, in the chapel of Strickland Funeral Home, with the Rev. Steve Kirk officiating. Burial followed in the Bunn Cemetery.
She was a daughter of the late Henry Clarence and Kate West Wood. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bennie B. Franklin, Sr.; sister, Claudia Woodard; brothers, Scoot Wood and Perry L. Wood.
Surviving: daughters Kay F. Hagwood of Zebulon, Carol Ficklin (Larry), Melinda Jackson (Dan), all of Raleigh; son Bennie Franklin (Chris) of Louisburg; sisters Emma Johnson (Richard), Frances Goodwin (Lee), all of Franklinton, Edith Perry of Youngsville; brother, Doug Wood (Louise) of Franklinton; two grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Hospice of Wake County, 250 Hospice Cr., Raleigh, NC 27607.
