SHERMAN G. THOMPSON
YOUNGSVILLE-Sherman Gorrell Thompson, 87, died Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2011 after a short illness.  A celebration of his life will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 6, at Flat Rock Baptist Church, 1529 Flat Rock Church Road, Louisburg.

He was born to the late DeWitt and Berlie Mae Thompson in Winston-Salem. He was a member of the 52nd American Legion Post.

Surviving: his wife, Mildred Gilbert Thompson of Youngsville;  brother, Odell Thompson of Lewisville; sister, Rachel Chambers of Sequim, Wash.; sons, Allen Thompson (Kathy) of Archer Lodge, Ross Thompson (Darlene) of Jacksonville, Fla.; daughter, Laurel Wheeler (Edward) of Franklinton; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
