ROBERT C. “BOB” HILL
OXFORD - Robert C. “Bob” Hill, 80, died Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2011 at Granville Medical Center. Funeral service will be conducted at 3 p.m. today (Saturday, Feb. 19) at Oxford Baptist Church by Dr. J. Steven Bolton. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.

Born in Franklin County, he was the son of the late Sandy Vernon and Hettie Wiggins Hill. He was a graduate of Louisburg College and North Carolina State University. He was an agriculture teacher with the Granville County Schools and also at Oxford Webb High School. He served in the N. C. National Guard and retired as a lieutenant colonel following 30 years of service.

Surviving: son, Rob Hill (Mona) of Oxford; daughter, Marsha H. Currin (John) of Oxford; sister, Claire Shaw of Raleigh; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Annette Murray Hill; daughter, Susan Elizabeth Hill; brothers, Vernon Hill and James Hill.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Susan E. Hill Scholarship Fund, c/o Oxford Baptist Church, P. O. Box 398, Oxford, NC 27565.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:30 to 2 p.m. at Gentry-Newell & Vaughan Funeral Home in Oxford and at other times they will be at the 109 North Street residence.
