MAGALENE R. MITCHELL
FRANKLINTON—Magalene Ray Mitchell, 89, died Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at Hillside Nursing Center. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 7, at Mt. Carmel Christian Church, with the Rev. Don Owen officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

She was born in Wake County, the daughter of the late Robert Lee and Melissa Keith Ray. She was a lifelong member of Mt. Carmel Christian Church and was a charter member of the Brassfield Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxillary. She was married to Arthur E. Mitchell, who preceded her in death.

Surviving: her daughters, Faye Bridges (Steve) of Creedmoor and Dianne Hoyle (Andy) of Franklinton; sisters, Lucille Perry and Geraldine Blevins of Raleigh; brother, Bill Ray of Lawrenceville, Va.; three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her sisters, Myrtle Ray Allen, Oza Powell and Ola Hollman, and by her brothers, Victor Ray, Floyd Ray, Dock Ray and Clifton Ray.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Carmel Christian Church Building Fund, Attention: Claire Parham, 5536 Antioch Road, Oxford, NC 27565.

Friends may visit with the family from 7-8:30 Wednesday evening at Bright Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 405 S. Main St., Wake Forest, or at the home of Faye & Steve Bridges, 3139 Horseshoe Road, Creedmoor, at other times.
