BOBBY LEE HAMM
HENDERSON - Bobby Lee Hamm, age 75, a resident of 216 Green Street, died Monday, May 23, 2011, at Maria Parham Medical Center.  Born in Franklin County on July 9, 1935, he was the son of the late Dewey Hobson Hamm and Ruth Lassiter Hamm Harris.  He was a retired truck driver for Variety Wholesale and was a former Vance County Sheriff.  He was a Veteran of the United States Air Force during the Korean War.

Bobby was a member of the Henderson Masonic Lodge # 229 AF & AM, the Henderson Shrine Club, and a past member of York Rite Bodies.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 3:00 pm at South Henderson Pentecostal Holiness Church by the Rev. Frank Sossamon.  Burial with full Masonic Rites will be held at Sunset Gardens.

He is survived by one daughter, Rene H. Sams and husband, Britt, and granddaughter, Harli Sams of Henderson; one nephew, Dewey Hamm, Jr. of Henderson; two nieces, Deborah Murphy and Rita Smith, both of Henderson; two sisters-in-law, Mary P. Swanson and husband, Robert of Louisburg and Alice P. Newton and husband, Johnnie of Henderson.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Pearce Hamm who passed away on May 5, 2011; one brother, Dewey H. Hamm, Sr.; one sister, Rebecca H. Wagner; and one niece, Tanya H. Crutcher.

The family will receive friends Wednesday night from 7:00 until 8:30 PM at J. M. White Funeral Home.  At other times they will be at the home at 216 Green Street.

Serving as active pall bearers will be members of the Henderson Masonic Lodge.

Arrangements are by J. M. White Funeral Home.
