PILOT – Mary Magdalene Lewis, 85, died Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2011. Funeral services were held Friday, Aug. 26, at Strickland Funeral Home Chapel in Wendell. Interment followed in the Lewis family cemetery.
A native of Franklin County, she was daughter to the late Bryant “Buddy” and Emma Jones Lewis. She worked for many years at Zebulon Drug Store and for over 30 years at the DMV until her retirement. She was a lifelong member of Pilot Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by 12 siblings.
Surviving: 36 nephews and nieces; special nephew, Carrol Williams; and numerous great-nephews and nieces.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Durham Rescue Mission, P.O. Box 11368, Durham, NC 27703, Attn: Ernie Mills or to Pilot Baptist Church Building Fund, 8103 NC 39 Hwy., Zebulon, NC 27597.
