LUCILLE PULLEY MITCHELL

FRANKLINTON - Lucille Pulley Mitchell, age 90, died peacefully on December 9, 2011, at her home surrounded by her family, after a long battle with COPD.      

She was born November 5, 1921 in Vance Co, the youngest daughter of the late Joseph Burneth (Burnie) & Sarah Perkinson Pulley.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Hester Mitchell; infant daughter Aileen Carol, and brother, William Alvis Pulley.  She was a homemaker who was also known for her delicious homecooked meals, children’s birthday, wedding and chocolate cakes.  Her home was always open to her children’s and grandchildren’s friends.  She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by daughters, Janie Mitchell Ray, Carolyn M. Allen, Betty M. Lindsey (Joe), Donna M. Mendenhall (Bobby) of Franklinton; son, Donald F. Mitchell (Bev) of McAllen, TX; and daughter-in-law, Kaye Bona Mitchell of Spanish Fork, UT.; grandchildren: Lynn R. Burke (Melvin), Mike Ray, Tammy M. Ray, Brad Shearon (Heather), Yvonne S. Ball (Jerry), Tim & David Shearon, Bryce Mendenhall (Stacie) of Franklinton, Chris Mitchell (Nicole), Casey M. Barber and Caleb Mitchell of Spanish Fork, Utah;  great-grandchildren: Kristy B. Francis (Derek), Josh Burke, John & Jacob Ray, Keith Ball, Connor & Carson Mendenhall, Jenna Mitchell, Jordon Holm, Mitchell Barber; great-great-grandchildren: Hailey and Kaitlyn Klein, Emerson Ball, Krystal, Tara & Brittney Francis;  sister:  Maggie P. Kearney (Norwood), sisters-in-law:  Patsy Capps Pulley and Alice Mitchell Boyd; special friend, Lavern Woodlief  Loyd; and caregiver, Neena Seifert.

Funeral services were held December 13, 2011 at Bright Funeral Home with burial in Fairview Cemetery, Franklinton.  Flowers welcome or memorial donations may be made in her name to Hospice of Wake Co, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 27607.  Visitation was held prior to service and other times at home of Janie Mitchell Ray, 1082 Green Hill Road or Donna M. Mendenhall, 1174 Mount Olivet Church Road, Franklinton.
