PLUMMER A. “P.A.” RICHARDSON

LOUISBURG - Plummer A. Richardson, age 84, died Wednesday, January 25, 2012. “P.A.” was the owner of the Richardson Funeral Homes in Louisburg, NC and Nashville, NC. Being a longtime business leader and public servant for over fifty years, he devoted his life to God, his family and his community.

P.A. was born January 2, 1928 in Nash Co., North Carolina to the late Plummer B. “P.B.” and Alice Cooper Richardson. After completing his education in Nashville, NC, P.A. attended North Carolina Central University in Durham, NC, joined the U.S. Navy during WWII and earned a degree in Accounting from the Tristate University in Angola, IN, and later received a degree in Funeral Service from the John Tylor Community College in Chester, VA.

He resided in Ohio for several years, working for the Internal Revenue Service, as a tax accountant and for a private enterprise as an accounting clerk and bookkeeper. He later started his own business in Cleveland, OH, as a local merchant/store owner.

After returning to North Carolina to assist and succeed his father in running the family business of Richardson Funeral Home that his grandfather, the late Plummer Alston Richardson started in 1918, P.A. met and married the love of his life, Geraldine Cyrus Richardson.

P.A. and Geraldine have resided in Louisburg, NC for over 45 years and together they actively managed the funeral homes and raised two children, who are now continuing their father’s legacy, Stacy (her husband, Jamie, and their daughter, Lourdes) and Herbert (his wife, Tabatha, and their son, Plummer Cyrus, and their daughter, Brandi). P.A. is survived by a loving family and community of people who he served and loved dearly.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at the Louisburg College Auditorium in Louisburg, NC at 3:00 p.m. Visitation was held Tuesday, January 31, 2012 from 4-7 p.m. at Richardson Funeral Home in Louisburg, NC.
