EUGENE EDWARD NEWELL
October 15, 1928 – September 16, 2012
BUNN – Eugene Edward “Gene” Newell, 83, of Bunn, passed away September 16th at Wake Med Hospital in Raleigh. 

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lucille Tinsley Newell; and second wife, Irene G. Newell; his daughter, Phyllis Eckersley; three sisters and one brother.

Gene is survived by his wife, Lucille Jeffreys Winstead Newell; a son, Randy (Karen), and a granddaughter, Alayna, of Woodenville, Washington; a sister, Betty Taylor (Gene) of Lowry City, Missouri; and two stepdaughters, Kathy Arrington of Stem and Trudy Garner of Sharpsburg. 

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 19th, at Strickland Funeral Home in Louisburg.  Pastor Mark Tondee will officiate.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at 1:00 p.m.  Burial will follow in Lancaster Memorial Park.

Flowers will be accepted and memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Baptist Tabernacle, 394 Ferrells Bridge Rd., Louisburg, NC  27549.

Gene was a retired veteran of the U.S. Air Force, having served 24 years.
