MARY ALICE G. DENTON

LOUISBURG - Mary Alice Gupton Denton, 88, of Louisburg died Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at Rex Hospital.  She was born in Franklin County to Ben and Pearl Burnette Gupton.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Denton, and her sister, Inez Griffin.  She was a member of Wood Baptist Church where she served as treasurer for over 50 years, Sunday school teacher for over 40 years and was a member of the church choir. 

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Mary Jo and Michael Gilliam of Raleigh; her two grandchildren, Michelle Gilliam and her boyfriend, Timothy Powell, and Christopher Gilliam of Raleigh; her brother and sister-in-law, Bennie Ray and Mary Gupton; and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Thursday night from 7 to 9:00 p.m. at Lancaster Funeral and Cremation Services, 804 N. Bickett Boulevard, Louisburg.  Funeral services will be held Friday at 2:00 p.m. at Wood Baptist Church with the Rev. Mark Smith officiating.  Interment will follow in the family cemetery.
