MAMIE S. JOYNER

RALEIGH-Mamie Smith Stallings Joyner, 83, died Tuesday evening, April 8, 2014 in Raleigh.  Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 12, at 3 p.m. at Lancaster Funeral and Cremation Services Chapel with the Rev. Wayne Stallings officiating.  Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Baptist Church cemetery.  The family will receive friends at 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. 

She was born in Warren County to her parents, David Thomas Smith Sr. and Cora Pendergrass Smith.  She was preceded in death by her husbands, Walter D. “Buddy” Stallings and Johnny Joyner; her son, Gregory S. Stallings; and one grandson.

Surviving: two sons, Gene Stallings (Judy) of Raleigh, David Stallings of Raleigh; daughter, Patricia Joyner Wallace (Ronnie) of Sandersville, Ga.; six grandchildren; and seven great- grandchildren; brothers and sisters, David T. Smith Jr. of Tampa, Fla, Roberta S. Nave of Decatur, Ala., Kenneth Smith and Wayne Smith of Louisburg and Cyndi S. Brown of Henderson; numerous nieces and nephews.

After being raised on a farm in Franklin County, she had a long career in the retail industry.
