JOSEPHINE D. LEONARD
RALEIGH - Josephine DeMent Leonard, 94, died Thursday, Sept. 13, 2007 at Universal Health Care in Raleigh. A funeral service was conducted Monday, Sept. 17, at Emmanuel Baptist Church, Raleigh, with the Revs. Buddy Johnson and Leon Bizzell officiating. Interment followed in Raleigh Memorial Park.

A native of Franklin County, she was born to the late William Mack and Sally Irma Aycock DeMent. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hermus Gilbert Leonard; brothers, George Winston DeMent and Herbert DeMent; sisters, Irma DeMent, Ruth Oakley and Janie Perry.

Surviving: son, William Clifton Leonard (Martha) of Atlanta, Ga.; daughter, Betty Grey Leonard of Raleigh; brothers, Robert DeMent, Mack DeMent (Lib), all of Youngsville; sisters, Margaret Shepp of Wake Forest, Marie DeMent of Youngsville, Betty Wrenn (Bill) of Louisburg; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

For those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to Emmanuel Baptist Church Building Fund or Hospice of Wake County, 1300 Saint Mary’s St., 4th Floor, Raleigh, NC 27605.
