CHARLES MOORE DRAUGHN, JR.
LOUISBURG - Charles Moore Draughn, Jr., age 79, a resident of 130 Jeffress Dr., Louisburg, died Saturday, October 6, 2007. He was born on August 30, 1928 in Richmond, Va., and lived in Wilson, N. C. and Raleigh, N. C. He graduated from Charles L. Coon High School in Wilson and Baylor University in Waco, Texas. He was retired from Nationwide Insurance Company Regional Headquarters in Raleigh. He served in the Korean War with the Air Force from 1949 until 1953.

Mr. Draughn was a member of the First Hill Baptist Church in Raleigh and also attended the Smithton Baptist Church in Bath, N.C. He was Scoutmaster of Troop 207 of the Boy Scouts of America in Raleigh.

Graveside services were Tuesday, Oct. 9, at 3 p.m. in Raleigh Memorial Park in Raleigh.

Surviving are his wife, Ann Deans Draughn, of the home; four daughters, Willie Ann D. Hyland and husband Jim of Charlotte, N.C., Clara Lee Lee and husband Casey of Apex, N.C., Lucy Girault and husband Jack of Monroe, N.C., and Martha Terrell Draughn of Boone, N.C.; three sons, Charles Moore Draughn III and wife Elyse of Franklinton, N.C., John Milton Draughn and wife Trena of Myrtle Beach, S.C. and James Weston Draughn and wife Sherry of Franklinton, N.C.; two brothers, William H. Draughn of Commerce, Texas, and Robert Draughn of Mt. Pleasant, S.C. He had 14 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Betsy D. Ives.

Flowers are accepted or memorials may be made to Boy Scouts of America, Occoneechee Council, 3231 Atlantic Ave., Raleigh, N.C. or to the American Diabetes Association, 1701 North Beauregard St., Alexandria, Va. 22311.

The family received friends from 7 until 8:30 p.m. Monday night at the Franklin Funeral Service, 504 E. Mason St., Franklinton. At other times they were at the home of Charles and Elyse Draughn, 211 N. Cheatham St., Franklinton.
