Sponsors needed
The Franklin County Department of Social Services is seeking sponsors for Christmas who will purchase items for families, children and the elderly. Names may also be chosen from the Angel Tree at Walmart. The Angel Tree holds the wish list of 70 children in the custody of the Department of Social Services. Toy Drive
Franklin County Homebuilders Association is hosting its second annual Christmas Toy Drive for less fortunate children in Franklin County. You may donate an unwrapped toy at the FCHBA office, located in Wake Electric in Youngsville, at Custom Cap and Fireplaces, 395 Bert Winston Road in Youngsville, or  Smith Insulation, 780 E.F. Cottrell Road, Louisburg. For more information, call (919) 863-6482.

Coats for Christmas

The “Coats for Christmas” campaign is currently underway until the end of the year. New or “good” used coats for kids and adults can be dropped off at the Franklin County Farm Bureau and Village Cleaners in Louisburg and at the Youngsville Library. Coats will be distributed to Safe Space, Care and Share, the Senior Citizens Center in Louisburg, the Youngsville Christmas Project, and various needy families. Luminaries
Glenn Chris Lake subdivision, located on Hwy. 401, south of Louisburg, will be having luminaries on Christmas Eve. Children will also be able to visit with Santa. The event begins at 6:00pm. For more information, call 340-2457.

Christmas Concert

The North Carolina Boys Choir and Chamber Choir will present an annual Christmas concert in Duke University Chapel on Monday, Dec. 20, at 7:30 p.m.
The concert will begin, as it always does, with “Once In Royal David’s City.” Much of the music will be carols enjoyed by many each season. The choir always ends its concerts with a rousing rendition of Handel’s “Hallelujah Chorus” from the Messiah.
Tickets are available from Pearson’s Music on Chapel Hill Boulevard in Durham and at Burrage Music on Green Road in Raleigh. Tickets are also available at the door starting at 6:30 the night of the performance. Call (919) 489-0291 or visit www.ncboyschoir.org for more information.
