SUSIE H. KEARNEY
DURHAM - Susie Hawkins Kearney, 69, died Sunday, Nov. 18, 2007 at her home in Durham. Funeral services were conducted Saturday, Nov. 24, at Kinches Chapel Christian Church in Franklinton, with the Rev. Jeanette Pender officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.

She was born to the late Chester and Rebecca Pettiford Hawkins. She joined Kinches Chapel United Church of Christ at an early age.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Morris Kearney Jr.; one son, James W. Kearney; three sisters, Doza Hawkins, Bessie Jackson and Rebecca Davis; one brother, Chester Hawkins; and one granddaughter.

Surviving: daughters, Susie Pettus (Arthur) and Constance Kearney McClure (Paul), all of Durham; three sons, Ricky (Nirilla), Michael and Steve Kearney, all of Durham; two sisters, Ophelia Harris of Franklinton and Oza Hawkins of Youngsville; sixteen grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
