GOOSE CREEK, S.C. - John Howard Elam Jr., 78, died Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2008 at the Hospice of Charleston Center, Mt. Pleasant, S.C. Funeral services were conducted Friday, Jan. 25, at Carolina Memorial Chapel in Charleston, S.C. Interment followed in Carolina Memorial Park.

He was born in Louisburg to the late John Howard Elam Sr. and Lola Elam. He was an airframe and power plant mechanic in the U. S. Air Force and retired after 20 years of service. He served two tours of duty in Korea.

Surviving: his wife, Lois Barnes Elam of Goose Creek, S.C.; son, John B. Elam of Goose Creek; daughter, Gail Kenney of Kingsbay, Ga.; two grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren; and many other family members.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Mr. Elam’s honor to Hospice of Charleston, 3870 Leeds Ave., Suite 101, N. Charleston, SC 29405.
