MARIE W. WILLIAMS
HENDERSON - Marie Whetstone Woodard Williams, 85, died Thursday, Feb. 21, 2008 at Maria Parham Medical Center. A graveside service was conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 24, at New Bethel Baptist Church by the Rev. Carol Dean.

Born in Keysville, Va., she was the daughter of the late Ira Whetstone and Annie Laura Murphy Whetstone.

Surviving: three daughters, Martha W. Rowland of Kittrell, Rose W. Marshall of Greensboro, and Matilda W. Hughes of Henderson; two sons, James R. Woodard of Morehead City and William C. Woodard of Jamestown; one sister, Jane W. Cornish of Kittrell; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Charlie Woodard and Woodrow Williams.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association of North Carolina in memory of Mrs. Marie W. Williams, 3801 Lake Boone Trail, Suite 190, Raleigh, NC 27607, or at lungnc.org.

Arrangements are by J. M. White Funeral Home.
