FRANKLINTON - James Foy Estes, 86, died Friday, May 9, 2008 at Franklin Regional Medical Center. Funeral services were conducted Monday, May 12, in the chapel of Franklin Funeral Service in Franklinton, with the Rev. Clyde Waiden presiding. Burial with military honors followed in Fairview Cemetery.

A resident of Franklinton, he was born in Granville County to the late Macon E. and Zola Bailey Estes. He was employed as a foreman with D&J Body Shop in Louisburg and was a member of Brassfield Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served with the Franklinton Fire Department for more than 40 years.

Surviving: his sons, Herbert Estes of Raleigh and Howard Estes (Deborah) of Wake Forest; daughter, Susan Morris Phelps of Raleigh; and one granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his wife, Willie Mae Williams Estes.
