CHASE CITY, Va. Leola Toone Tate, grandmother of Rev. Gwen Starr of Franklinton, died Monday, July 7, at the age of 93.

Her wake was Friday, July 11, at Giles Funeral Home from 6–7 p.m. Funeral service will be conducted today (Saturday, July 12) at noon at Calvary Baptist Church in Victoria, Va.

The Rev. Hosie T. Starr, associate minister of Old Liberty Baptist Church in Louisburg, will be the eulogist.

A native of Lunenburg County, Va., Mrs. Tate resided in Yonkers, N. Y. for many years. In 1984, she relocated back home, residing in Chase City, Va.

Surviving: two sons, Herbert (Lucille) Toone of Halifax, Va., and Roger (Yvonne) Toone of Rehoboth, Va.; one daughter, Donna (Tony) Oliver of Yonkers, N.Y.; a host of grandchildren, great -grandchildren, and a great-great-grandchild.
