CHRISTINE A. BENTON
RALEIGH - Christine “Tena” Alford Benton, 93, died Wednesday morning, Oct. 8, 2008 at her home.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. today (Saturday, Oct. 11) at Millbrook Baptist Church. Entombment will follow in the Oakwood Cemetery Mausoleum.

She was born in Franklin County, daughter of the late Martha Blanche Sykes and George Augustus Alford. She was a graduate of East Carolina University and a retired school teacher at Governor Morehead School for the Blind.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Benton; sisters and brothers, Josephine Pate Jones, Paul Alford, Mayard Shelby Alford and Aline Blowe.

Surviving: sister, Geraldine A. Hall; four nephews; two nieces; two great-nieces and one great-nephew.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. Saturday prior to the service at Millbrook Baptist Church.
