JOYCE R. YOUNG
February 23, 1947 – December 11, 2008
LOUISBURG – Joyce Ransdell Young, 61, of Louisburg, died Thursday morning.

Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert J. Young, Sr., and her mother, Marie D. Ransdell. She retired from the NC Department of Revenue in 1999.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Strickland Funeral Home with the Rev. George Rowe officiating. Burial will follow in the Ransdell Family Cemetery.

Joyce is survived by her son, Herbert J. Young, Jr.; father, S.H. “Hartford” Ransdell; sister, Carolyn Ransdell, all of Louisburg; brother, Sammy Ransdell of Raleigh; sisters-in-law, Gail Hockaday and husband Clyde of Franklinton, Debbie Duke and husband Mike of Spring Hope; brother-in-law, Bobby Young and wife Ann of Louisburg; several nieces and nephews.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the American Heart Association-MAA, 4217 Park Place Ct., Glen Allen, VA 23060.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Strickland Funeral Home, 103 W. Franklin St., Louisburg.
