NATHANIEL T. BRUMMITT
YOUNGSVILLE - The Rev. Nathaniel Thomas Brummitt, 84, died Sunday, Jan. 4, 2009. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today (Wednesday, Jan. 7) at Good Hope Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Corinth Baptist Church cemetery near Oxford.

He was the son of the late Belle Harris Brummitt and Nathaniel Clay Brummitt of Granville County. He graduated from Campbell College, Wake Forest University and Southwestern Seminary. While attending the Seminary in Ft. Worth, he met and married his first wife, Dorothy Elaine Jones, who preceded him in death. Rev. Brummitt pastored churches in North Carolina and Virginia for 30 years.

Surviving: his wife, Frances Mitchell Brummitt; daughter, Ruth Brummitt Graham (Daniel); brother, Dennis Brummitt (Jane); sisters, Isabel Brummitt, Pat B. Cokewell and Ann B. Averitt; stepchildren, Joyce Sorrell, Penny Richards and Larry Mitchell; two grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren.

In addition to his first wife, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Evelyn B. Tefft and Mary Frances Brummitt.
