DOROTHY D. PERNELL
HENDERSON - Dorothy Daniel “Dot” Pernell, 79, died Sunday, Jan. 18, 2009 at Maria Parham Medical Center. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Friday, Jan. 23, at the Pernell family cemetery, conducted by the Rev. Frank Sossamon.

Born in Vance County, she was the daughter of the late Henry Harold and Edith Sarah Hicks Daniel. She was the widow of Maurice Clifton Pernell.

She was a former employee of Henderson Grill, Parker’s Drug Store, Aycock Shoe Store, and The Shoe Department. She was a member of Mountain Grove Baptist Church.

Surviving: a sister, Margaret D. Stanley of Henderson; brother, Franklin D. “Frank” Daniel of Franklinton; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Henry Harold Daniel Jr.

The family will receive friends Thursday, Jan. 22, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Flowers Funeral Home in Henderson.

Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to the church or charity of one’s choice.
