BUNN -- When everyone talks about how it seems like forever since Bunn lost a girls basketball game, it’s not an overstatement.
BHS hasn’t lost in the 2012 calendar year, and the last Ladycats’ setback came on Dec. 27.
Since then, the on-fire Ladycats have reeled off 16 in a row, including a 50-18 conquest of North Johnston during Thursday’s semifinals of the Northern Carolina Conference Girls Basketball Tournament at Franklinton.

During that event, representatives from Louisburg, Franklinton and Bunn expressed their desire to accept an original realignment plan, which was conceived last November by computer at SAS.

The Lady Hurricanes have yet to be played to a tight game in region action this year -- and even blew out defending champion Patrick Henry by 32 points last Saturday.

A Youngsville man accused of trying to set his girlfriend on fire and burn their house down is slated to appear in court this week.
An apparent medical issue kept Gary Normand out of court in January, but he is slated to appear in court on Wednesday to face charges that he tried to kill his girlfriend, Chloe Reynolds.

Part of Riverside school campus chosen for National Register of Historical Places
A portion of Riverside school campus in Louisburg has been named to the National Register of Historic Places following a years-long effort by the county school board and, more specifically, member Bernard Hall.
The campus was formerly the Franklin County Training School - Riverside Union School and for many years Louisburg Elementary School was part of the campus. Much of the campus  has now been converted into the schools’ administrative offices.

The filing period began Monday with a handful of folks running for office — at least one for the first time.
Roger Lytle, who began the community group, We The People, filed to fun for the County Commission At-large District 7 seat, facing off against Shane Mitchell, who also filed for re-election.
Commissioner Sidney Dunston filed for re-election to represent residents in District 1.

County Emergency Communications Director Christy Shearin advised commissioners last week that the North Carolina 911 Board has proposed a series of new standards for emergency dispatch centers.

A Franklin County judge asked to referee a dispute that could unseat a Durham district attorney will hold the gavel on the matter for at least another week.
At the end of January, Superior Court Judge Robert Hobgood suspended Durham District Attorney Tracey Cline, ruling that that was enough preliminary evidence to support claims that Cline was unfit for office.

Tomlinson recognized for Youngsville service after accepting county job
YOUNGSVILLE — Commissioners officially received a letter of resignation and recognized the long-time service of its attorney — weeks after he accepted the same post with Franklin County.
The county’s Board of Commissioners hired Pete Tomlinson as its attorney, replacing Darnell Batton who resigned from that post after nearly 20 years.

Louisburg man arrested on charges of possession of firearm by a felon
Narcotics officers seized nearly three pounds of marijuana, arrested one man and planned to charge two others during a drug raid.
According to a report by Dep. J. Hastings, Raleigh police tipped off the sheriff’s office about suspected drug sales at a home in the 3200 block of Epsom Rocky Ford Road in northern Franklin County.
