Bunn will carry a 4-2 overall and 3-0 league record into Friday’s key matchup at backyard rival Franklinton.

The undefeated Red Rams scored on a 4-yard touchdown run from T.J. Wall with 48 seconds remaining to squeeze out a 20-16 decision over the Vikings.

A Franklinton man was taken to Franklin Regional Medical Center at about noon on Thursday following this two-vehicle wreck in front of a Louisburg eatery. According to Louisburg Police Officer Dennis Benson, James Hicks, 65, was attempting to pull out of the Waffle House parking lot and make a left onto Bickett Boulevard when he pulled into the path of a truck driven by Margaret Mulholland.

A Louisburg area man is slated to appear in court in November on murder charges.
Franklin County detectives and agents with the State Bureau of Investigation were called in to investigate after authorities found Michael Richardson, 49, dead inside a home at 122 Fox Ridge Road at about 10:45 p.m. on Sept. 16.

And so were those who came out to cheer.
More than a year ago, organizers set out to create a baseball league for those with mental and physical disabilities and on Thursday night, the Miracle League hosted its first game.

The county’s airport authority will discuss a personnel matter during a special-called meeting on Wednesday.
The agenda does not indicate who will be the topic of discussion, however, airport director Steve Merritt appears a likely choice.
The Triangle North Executive Airport committee met in closed session during a special-called meeting on Sept. 7, but Merritt did not attend that meeting.

Deputies investigating a home break-in
Franklinton police are looking for a suspect in a hit-and-run involving a bicycle.
According to an accident report by Sgt. W.B. Bulloch, James W. Tapp II was riding a bicycle on Howard Harris Road when he stopped at the intersection of U.S. 1-A.
According to the report, a white pickup truck approached from behind and hit Tapp.

The story, written in rather breathless prose, reported that the cost of employer-sponsored health insurance “surged” this year — climbing an average of 9 percent.
Nine percent? A surge?
