Breaking News: Five charged in Cascine burglary; Woman charged with child abuse

Five charged in Cascine burglary LOUISBURG -- Authorities arrested five Franklin County men in connection with a burglary at the Cascine Plantation.
Deputies responded to a theft at the property on Oct. 15.

Woman charged with child abuse LOUISBURG -- Local authorities arrested a West Virginia woman, alleging she was responsible for abusing a child, first in that state and then collaterally in Franklin County.

CAROLYN MULLEN JEANS

WHITE LAKE - Carolyn Mullen Jeans was born January 18, 1944 to Grover Lee Mullen and Rachel Mae Griffin. She was raised in Franklin County and spent the last 10 years enjoying the "Lake Life" at Camp Clearwater, White Lake, N. C., to return to her roots and pass peacefully on December 24, 2016.

NASHVILLE - Funeral services for Joyce Dean Hardy, 75, who died Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2017, will be held Saturday, Jan. 28, at 1 p.m. at Pleasure Hill Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Pine Chapel Memorial Garden cemetery.
