Come the first Sunday in August, the Trading Path Association/TPA again will host a hike in Louisburg to see an old dugout canoe, and also the spring and the ford over the Tar River that are the reason for the town of Louisburg being just where it is. TPA originally had planned this exploration for June, yet the rains prevented that outing from happening. So, on August 5th at 2 PM, all adventuresome types should meet at Louisburg's beautiful Riverfront Park, just two blocks upstream from Louisburg's Main Street bridge over the Tar River.
Tom Magnuson, TPA Executive Director, will guide the group on a walk about a mile and half or two miles on sidewalks. “If the stream doesn’t rise, the non-risk averse will attempt to ford the Tar River on the great granite sheet, a notable landmark in Louisburg,” says Magnuson.
Louisburg is an hour almost due east from Hillsborough, and about forty-five minutes north of Raleigh. From west of Raleigh, take I-85 to the Creedmoor-Highway 56 exit. Directions and a map are on the website at www.tradingpath.org. Briefly, according to Magnuson, “Take Highway 56 all the way to Louisburg, cross the river, turn left and poke around along the river until you find the park.”
The Trading Path Association is a 501[c][3] non-profit organization headquartered in Hillsborough, NC. Founded in 1991, it enjoys broad-based support at the local, regional and national levels. Donations are tax-deductible and welcomed.

All-N' Together Services in partnership with GSXR/MC/SC will be hosting a FREE Community Field Day on August 18th from 12noon-4p.m. at the Rolesville Park in Rolesville, NC. This purpose of this event is to distribute school supplies to children in the Franklin County Area.
