With holidays fast approaching, Vance-Granville Community College will offer a course, “Holiday Sweets and Treats,” this fall at its Franklin County Campus. Classes will be held Thursday evenings, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Sept. 11 through Nov. 13, on the campus, which is located on N.C. Highway 56 near Louisburg.

“This hands-on class offers great ideas for quick and easy holiday goodies that will tantalize your taste buds,” according to Franklin Campus Director Anthony Pope. The students will also be introduced to the world of "Pastry Art" with a brief introduction to cake decorating by their instructor, Chef George E. Blow, who is an Honors Graduate of the Pennsylvania Culinary Institute.

The cost of the course is $50, plus supplies.

7:00 pm EDTVGCC Franklin Campus Offers QuickBooks Course
Vance-Granville Community College will offer a class on using the popular QuickBooks accounting software at its Franklin County Campus, located on N.C. 56 about one mile west of Louisburg. The course will be taught on Thursday nights from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m., Sept. 11 through Oct. 23.

The QuickBooks 2006 course is designed to introduce students to the basic features of QuickBooks, a powerful accounting system for small businesses. Students will be given an opportunity for hands-on practice. They will learn the types of information that businesses need to track and how to enter and track that information in QuickBooks. In addition, students will learn to invoice customers, record payments for customers, pay bills to outside vendors, manage inventory and analyze financial data. By the end of the course, each student should be familiar with most common tasks and know where to locate information about more advanced features.
