YOUNGSVILLE - Danny Lee Thornton, 66, died Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2010 at WakeMed. A memorial service was conducted Friday, Oct. 29, in the Hall Wynne Funeral Home Franklinton Chapel by the Rev. Clyde Waiden.
He was a native of Alamance County and was the son of the late Daniel James Thornton and Essie Lucas Thornton. He was a retired captain with the Raleigh Fire Department and a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
Surviving: daughter, Michele T. Bogue (Jeff) of Goldsboro; sister, Betty Garrett (George) of Durham; brother, Charles Steve Varner of Spring Hope; two grandchildren; and three nieces.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to North Carolina Fallen Firefighters Foundation, 2501 Blue Ridge Road, Suite 250, Raleigh, NC 27607.
