BARBARA F. BURNETTE
LOUISBURG - Barbara Foster Burnette passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on Sunday, December 30th, 2012.

 She was born in Saxe, Virginia and was the youngest of Chester Cole Foster and Carrie Mae Newcomb Foster’s eleven children. Barbara married Raymond Burnette of Franklin County. They made their home at the Burnette family home place in the Sandy Creek Community.

 Barbara worked alongside her husband for 52 years and continued the businesses after his death. Her primary business was the Vogue Hairstyling until her death.

 She was an active member of Sandy Creek Baptist Church and loved all the ladies in her Sunday School Class and especially the “Puggles.”

 Her main hobbies were her family of 3 daughters, 3 sons-in-law and 7 grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening and cooking Sunday lunch for family and friends alike. She also enjoyed her daily Beauty Shop friends and was a mother, sister and faithful friend to all.

 Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at Sandy Creek Baptist Church, with the Rev. Joel Story officiating. Entombment will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond E. Burnette; son-in-law, Jim Chastain, sisters, Ruth Shipp, Alice Boykin, Marion Pegram and Shirley Dukes; brothers, Stewart Foster, Chester Foster and Kermit Foster.

She is survived by daughters, Cecilia B. Boone (Dennis), Patricia B. Chastain and Amy B. Dickens (Mark), all of Louisburg; brothers Sam and Leroy Foster, sister Charlotte Adams (Billy), all of Virginia; grandchildren, Jessica Nash, J.M. Dickens, Grant Boone, Holly Boyd (Brian), Anna Dickens, Madeline Chastain and Jonathan Dickens.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Hospice of Wake County, 250 Hospice Cr., Raleigh, NC 27607 or to Sandy Creek Baptist Church, 4160 NC HWY 561, Louisburg, NC 27549.

The family would like to express their gratitude to Mama’s loving caregivers and the dedicated staff of Hospice of Wake County.  

The family will receive friends 7 – 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Strickland Funeral Home, Louisburg.
