VIRGINIA BEACH, VA--Thomas Kincaid Barnes, 83, of Virginia Beach, VA, passed away peacefully August 22, 2021 (on his and Claudy Tucker Barnes' 56th anniversary). He is the son-in-law of the late John A. "Zula" Tucker and Hazel Johnson Tucker, of Louisburg, NC.
As athletic director of Cape Henry Collegiate School, he encouraged several boys to attend Louisburg College. He and Claudy and children enjoyed visiting Claudy's birthplace.
He graduated from Old Dominion University after four years in the Navy as an air traffic controller and had a long career of teaching and coaching.
His "Taps" will be celebrated at the Old Coast Guard Station on the oceanfront, September 28, 2021. He leaves his wife Claudy, daughters Hazel and Beth, and son Guy. He was predeceased by daughter Katy of Edenton, NC in 2016.
