Robert Allen HENN
February 13, 1924 - July 16, 2022

RALEIGH, NC -- Robert A. Henn, born February 13, 1924, passed away peacefully on July 16, 2022 in Raleigh, NC at age 98.

After graduating from New Rochelle High School, NY, he enlisted in the Army Air Force at age 19, where he served as a B-24 Bomber Pilot in the 8th Air Force based in England, flying 24 missions over Europe. He is one of the vanishing members of the "Greatest Generation". He married Janet Taylor on May 9, 1953 at Larchmont Avenue Church, NY in a double wedding with Janet's sister, Joan, and Allen Thompson. He was a Hydraulic Engineer Lab Director for Teledyne Corporation in New Rochelle, NY, retired in 1986, and moved to New Bern, NC and most recently lived in Raleigh, NC. He was an avid golfer and an accomplished trumpet player.

Bob is survived by his wife of 69 years, Janet; three children: Nancy Lynch (Joe), Cindy Koloski (George), and Rich Henn (Karen); four grandsons: Bobby (Jae), Matt, Tommy (Kelsey), and Joey (Ashley), and seven great grandchildren: Alyssa, Maggie, Lily, Salix, Brooks, Isaiah, and Acer.

A service to celebrate his life will be held at Abbotswood, 7900 Creedmoor Rd., Raleigh, on Saturday, August 13 at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the USO at donations@uso.org or Transitions Hospice at transitionslifecare.org.
