Barbara Smith Eury

Louisburg, NC--Barbara Smith Eury, 86, of Louisburg, passed away on Wednesday, November 9, 2022. She was born on August 10, 1936 to the late Melville Smith and Laura Mae Ayscue Smith O'Neal.

In addition to her parents, Barbara was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Gerald Jackson Eury; her brothers, Alvis Smith and his wife Ruth and Carlton "Buck" Smith; her sisters, Margaret Dickerson and her husband Howard, Hazel Tucker and her husband Sammy, and Mildred Tippett and her husband Thurman; her brothers-in-law, L.T. Wright, Charles Wynne, and J.C. Perkins .

Barbara is survived by her sons, Jerry (Rose) Holmes of Louisburg, Tom (Kristin) Eury of Howes Cave, NY and a daughter Robin (Elliott) Pinnell of Louisburg; grandchildren, Jonathan "JR" (Jessica) Holmes, Leslie (Kevin) Cordero, Stephanie Pinnell, Brandi Pinnell, Samantha (Chris) Sherman, and Nathan Eury; six great-grandchildren; and her sisters, Jeanette (Carson) Bell, Betty Wynne, Jean Perkins, and Judy (Larry) Daniel.

Barbara was a member of Louisburg Baptist Church, where she had served as a deacon and the church librarian. She worked as a weaver with Burlington Industries as well as working at the Louisburg Police Department, and as a teachers assistant at Edward Best School. Barbara owned and operated Youth University Playschool and Daycare.

A memorial service was held at 11 a.m., Saturday, November 12, 2022, at Lancaster Funeral and Cremation Services, 804 N. Bickett Blvd. Louisburg, NC 27549 with Reverend Nathaniel Williams officiating. The family received friends following the service.

In lieu of flowers, consider memorial contributions to Louisburg Baptist Church, Wheelchair Ramp Ministry, P.O. Box 730 Louisburg NC 27549. Services are entrusted to Lancaster Funeral and Cremation Services. Online condolences may be made to www.lancasterfcs.com.
