LAURA KING TYSON
September 30, 1946 - Friday, October 20, 2023

HENDERSON, NC -- Laura King Tyson, 77, of Henderson passed away peacefully on Friday, October 20, 2023 surrounded by her family. She was born on September 30, 1946 in Franklin County to Preston King and Mary Helen Griffin.

In addition to her parents, Laura was preceded in death by her two sisters, Frances King Denton and Carey King Jones and her brother James Ervin King.

Laura is survived by her three children, Rebecca Lynn Renn (Jonathan), Jamie Sue Grissom, and James Kevin Jones (Shakira); two sisters, Mary King Rocha, and Mamie Ellen Faulkner; two brothers, Preston King Jr. and Thomas Bryant King; seven grandchildren, Kristen Renn Moss (Andrew), Leah Renn Fuller (Daniel), Channie Renn, Shelby Renn, Sullivan Smith, Jamison Smith(Britney) and James Clayton Jones; and six great-grandchildren, Colt, Case, Crew, Brynlee, Bayleigh, and Ava James.

Laura was well loved throughout the community. She ran Jones Grocery on 401 for over 25 years. She was a graduate of Gold Sand High School, and was a member of Mountain Grove Baptist Church in her early years. She raised her children in the church. She loved going fishing. She really enjoyed Nags Head and fishing on the pier. Laura even moved to Florida where she absolutely loved the warm tropical weather. It was perfect weather for growing her famous fruit tress and poinsettias. She enjoyed the mountains and spending time with her family. Laura spent many Sundays in the last few years listening to her favorite gospel music by Alan Jackson. She also spent countless hours watching old country western shows, recalling her favorites were Jim Hardie and John Wayne. There was so much to love about Laura, and her passing has left a void that will be everlasting.

The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the loving and compassionate care given to Laura by the staff of Franklin Oaks, Maria Parham Hospital, and her personal caregiver Brenda Gupton.

Family will receive friends and visitors on Saturday, November 11, 2023 at 11 a.m. at Wood Baptist Church, 649 Wood Church Rd, Louisburg, NC. Memorial Service will be held at 12 p.m. immediately following visitation at the church and will be officiated by Pastor Steve Nobles.

Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to Lancaster Funeral and Cremation Services of Louisburg.
