Jack Griffin
December 12, 1938 - June 28, 2024

Virginia Beach,VA--James P. Griffin (Jack), age 85, passed away Friday, June 28, 2024.

He was born in Franklin County, NC on December 12, 1938 to Johnnie Redmon Griffin and Susie Radford Griffin. He grew up on the family farm where they harvested corn and tobacco to make a living. He graduated from Gold Sand High School in 1956 and moved to Virginia where he joined the National Guard. There he met his wife Carolyn Jones Griffin of 56 years and lived the rest of his life.

Those who knew him, knew Jack was a kind, gentle soul. He was an avid bowler and a huge UNC Tar Heel fan. He loved his sports and was a man of faith, that loved his family and friends unconditionally. He was an active member of Indian River Baptist Church in Virginia Beach, including singing in the choir.

He will truly be missed by all that knew him.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Janet Griffin Turner; and a brother AT Griffin.

Jack is survived by his two sons, Jamie Griffin of the home, and David Griffin (wife Julie) of Virginia Beach, VA; grandsons, Timothy and Jackson Griffin; his brother Scott Griffin of Lexington, NC; two sisters, Jill Griffin Gupton and Patsy Griffin Stevenson, of Louisburg , NC; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and all of their families.

The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m., July 20, at Indian River Baptist Church, Virginia Beach, Va. Please join us to celebrate his life. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you give a donation to the church at https://www.indianriverbaptist.com.
